Rainbow over twin towns

A glorious rainbow stretches across Jack Evans Boat Harbour, as captured by Twin Towns sound engineer and resident photographer Craig Worsley.
A glorious rainbow stretches across Jack Evans Boat Harbour, as captured by Twin Towns sound engineer and resident photographer Craig Worsley.

ACCORDING to this photo, the proverbial pot of gold at the end of the rainbow lies not in Tweed or the Gold Coast, but both.

It is a panoramic photo created from three horizontal shots taken and stitched together by Twin Towns Services Club resident photographer Craig Worsley.

Mr Worsley said he regularly photographed notable goings on at Twin Towns, such as major renovations currently underway.

"Last week one of the people who set up the rooms rang me up and said 'Craig, get up here with the camera and catch this rainbow'.

"They ring me all the time because there's always new machines and developments going on in relation to the redevelopment, though it's mostly demolition at the moment.

"In some cases I'll take a photo of the same spot every day to chart its development.

"It's very exciting, and when it's finished it will be better."

Mr Worsley lived in Murwillumbah "years ago" and owned a photo shop.

"I've been into photography for a long time; forty years ago you could have found me in a dark room in a garage," he said.

"I did a few for Speed on Tweed a few years back, such as the one of hundreds of people sitting down to a meal in the main street."

Apparently there is "some distortion" to his Jack Evans Boat Harbour panorama, but you would be hard pressed to spot it.

Some Twin Towns' staff regularly take snaps around the building, especially as there is so much happening there right now, Mr Worsley said.

He said they "do what they can", which sometimes involves photographing stars featuring as entertainment.

"I've met Suzie Quatro, The Searchers, and the guy from Australian Idol Reece Mastin, among others, because of my unofficial job."

His main task at the club is sound engineering, and if his ear is anything like his eye the standard of Twin Towns' entertainment should be at least in some ways be credited to him.
