IT'S been a while since the vacant Oxley building, formerly home to WOW Sight and Sound, has seen any activity.

The Queensland-based electronics chain was forced into receivership earlier this year, and the store closed its doors for good.

But thanks to some remodelling - and a lot of yellow paint - the building has been brought back to life by industry competitor JB Hi-Fi.

During the past few weeks the site has been filled with electrical goods as the store moved from its former location at MacGregor to Oxley.

Store manager Terry Holt said he was looking forward to the change of address and taking advantage of the new site's larger space.

"One of the things I am most excited about is our new musical instrument department," he said. "It will be JB Hi-Fi's second biggest in Australia."

Mr Holt said in addition to his current staff at MacGregor, the Oxley store had hired some previous employees from the former WOW Sight and Sound.

The store will hold its official opening on Thursday, August 23, with doors open from 9am to 9pm.
