JAMBOREE'S surrounding suburbs have been challenged to try and beat it for this year's title of Brisbane's Spotless Suburb.
Jamboree Councillor Matthew Bourke said the challenge was about creating some healthy competition and raising awareness of the great work local community groups do to keep the suburb tidy.
"Council sponsors the competition and it's all about encouraging groups to join and take pride in their local area and get involved," he said.
"Jamboree Heights has set a high standard and raised the bar when it comes to community pride and any other suburb would be hard pressed to beat their efforts, but let's see what other suburbs can do."
One group he felt had especially lifted the bar was the Jamboree Heights Neighbourhood Association, who has been working on improving Andaman St for the past two years by planting flowers and plants to brighten up the street.
"It's not just about planting it and making it look nice, but the long term benefits which is community pride, reduction of litter in the waterways and the other environmental benefits that come with having a nice planted strip along here," Cr Bourke said.
And with Clean Up Australia Day less than two weeks away, Cr Bourke is hoping to see a large turnout in all the suburbs to help keep Brisbane beautiful.
Local clean up spots for Clean Up Australia Day will be the bike entrance at Andaman St, Jamboree Heights, the corner of Arrabrie and Dandenong Rds, Mt Ommaney, and Bullet Head Creek on Spine St, Sumner Park.
