Bill and Fran Thirkill getting a head start on cleaning Oxley Park.
CLEAN Up Australia Day is fast approaching, but it's not too late to join the team to clean up, fix up and conserve your local environment.
Last year an amazing 565,510 volunteers together cleaned up over 16,454 tonnes of rubbish at 7479 registered sites across Australia.
Clean Up Australia Day is hoping to beat their record this year on March 4, and residents are being urged to come on board and help achieve a new record.
Richlands Councillor Milton Dick said he was hoping for more people to register sites and volunteer for this year's national clean up event.
"Last year there were a number of sites in Richlands Ward where loads of rubbish was cleaned out," Cr Dick said.
"Hundreds of volunteers dedicated their Sunday morning to help keep the area clean and green."
People can register their sites now, either by ringing Clean Up on 1800 282 329, or by visiting www.cleanup.org.au
