LONG before Justin Timberlake was bringing Sexy Back; before Madonna was a Material Girl; even before The Beatles had Come Together.

Before all of that were The Drifters - a legendary vocal group which became a national chart phenomenon in the 1950s.

One of the biggest selling groups of all time, The Drifters have created a huge catalogue of more than 50 hits.

They include timeless classics such as Under the Boardwalk, There Goes my Baby and This Magic Moment.

In popular music history, few vocal groups have become members of the Rock 'n' Roll Hall of Fame. The Drifters have.

During their five decade career, members have drifted in and out of the band.

One constant has been 72-year-old Billy Washington, who has been with The Drifters for more than 50 years.

Washington is joined by Wayne Foster, who has been with the group for 35 years, and newest member Patrick Jackson who used to perform with The Coasters.

Backed by an all star band, The Drifters have continually toured the world, recreating the memories that have produced five decades of hits.

Now the band has drifted to south-west Brisbane to entertain audiences with their long-lived American doo-wop and R&B/soul sound.
