THE senior students at Brigidine College were recently given some insight into art when two local artists paid a visit.
Anna Nordstrom and Carly Kotynski recently shared some of their creative insights and the results proved very creative.
Carly worked with the year 11's using copper wire and natural forms.
The students were amazed at the way she included natural fibres like banana leaf and palm fronds into her weaving techniques to create simple three dimensional forms.
Senior students experienced a creative eye opening workshop with Swedish born Anna.
“Ms Nordstrom creates unique pieces of art where she uses wax to enhance the artistic value of her work,” the students said.
Senior students searched through magazines for images and patterns. Once a simple collage was pasted onto wood, wax was applied.
When dry, Ms Norstrom showed the students how to burnish images into the wax to create yet another layer to their works.
Brigidine College art co-ordinator Korryn Swindail said Anna taught the girls the only way to improve their art was to try over and over again.
“If something doesn't work, try again,” she said.
