Taylor Bridge dominate under-15 squad

TAYLOR Bridge has dominated the Brisbane West under-15 squad with 10 players from the Graceville-based rugby club's strong under-15s team gaining selection. The club also had four players earn Brisbane West call-ups for the under-13s side. Both representative sides will compete at this year's QJRU State Championships to be held on the Sunshine Coast at Stockland Park, Kawana, from September 20.

 Swimming Sign-on

JAMBOREE Heights Swimming Club is seeking new swimmers to come join their club this season. Sign-ons will be held on Friday, August 27, from 3pm to 4.30pm and Saturday, August 28, from 8am to 10.30am at the Jamboree Heights Swimming School Pool, located on Beanland Street, Jamboree Heights. Little Athletics sign-on

SUMMER is quickly approaching and for many eager youngsters it's the start of a new Little Athletics season. For Centenary Little Athletics it's an extra special year with the centre gearing up to celebrate their 30th season. The club will hold three sign-on days in the coming weeks: Friday, August 20, August 27 and September 3, between 6pm and 9pm at JAGS Football Club, Wongaburra Street, Jindalee. Meanwhile Goodna Little Athletics is also anticipating another big season. They hold their sign-on day on Sunday, August 28, between 10am and 2pm at Marginson Park, Goodna. The club is also seeking a treasurer and canteen convenor.

Waterworx Swimmers win fist-fulls of medals

WATERWORX swimmers won 35 medals, including 13 golds, at the Brisbane Winter Short Course Swimming Championships held at Chandler last week. Seventeen local swimmers represented the club at the two-day meet, which attracted more than 600 swimmers from clubs all over Brisbane. Chris Weaver was the most successful swimmer, winning four gold and two silver medals, followed closely by Sharne Tiller with three gold, one silver and two bronze medals. Other gold medallists were Montana Sansby with two gold and one silver, Megan Gianotti with two gold, three bronze, Lefu Fonomaalii with one gold and two silvers and Emma Essex with one gold, one silver and one bronze medal. Club president, Amanda Bedford said that Waterworx had been placed in Division One of the Brisbane Swimming Premiership competition for 2010/2011 and was looking forward to a successful season. “Seven of our swimmers have been named in Swimming Queensland development squads and it should be noted that this is the largest number of Waterworx swimmers that we have had gain SQ Development Squad membership,” she said. Waterworx Swim Club will be holding it sign on for the new summer swim season on Friday, September 3, between 4.30pm and 6pm at the Springfield Aquatic Lifestyle Centre, Commercial Drive, Springfield.
