WHEN the Telstra National Open Shortcourse Swimming Championships are broadcast on television this week, look out for three local swimmers who will be racing alongside Australia's best.

Montana Sansby, 17, Emma Essex, 15, and Megan Gianotti, 14, from Springfield's Waterworx Swim Club will be competing in a total of 10 events at the championships which are being held from today (Wednesday, July 14) to Saturday, July 18, at the Brisbane Aquatic Centre.

One of the youngest swimmers to have achieved the blistering qualifying standards, Megan Gianotti will swim in the 50m, 100m and 200m butterfly alongside Jessica Schipper and other Australian representative butterfliers.

Megan was the 13 years national butterfly champion last season.

In the 200m fly Megan will be joined by Emma Essex who swam in the final of this event for 15 year olds at the Australian long course championships last season.

Specialist breaststroker Montana Sansby will race Leisel Jones and other internationals in the 50m, 100m and 200m breaststroke as well as competing in the same individual medley events as Stephanie Rice.

Montana is another local swimmer who won medals at the summer age group nationals.
