A 40-YEAR-OLD man faced Richlands court last Wednesday after being found slumped over the steering wheel of his car last year.
Jeffrey John Langford faced court charged with possession of a dangerous drug - morphine, possession of utensils and dangerous operation of a vehicle whilst adversely affected.
The court heard at 3pm on December 29, 2009, police were called to attend a vehicle pulled over on the corner of Freeman and Orchard Roads, Acacia Ridge, where they found Langford slumped over the steering wheel of his car.
Langford admitted he had used heroin earlier that day, and further police searches revealed a black bag containing four syringes, one of which contained a brown liquid, and a spoon.
Langford made a full admission to the police that he had paid $200 for the substance earlier that day and had broken it into four lots.
He had injected the drug before he began driving, but had begun to feel tired and pulled over to the side of the road.
A blood test showed Langford had in fact injected morphine.
He was disqualified from driving for six months, was fined $600 and was placed on a good behaviour bond. The conviction was not recorded.
USING his mobile phone to verbally abuse a friend landed Jeremy Corrin in Richlands court last week.
He was charged with using a carriage service to menace and harass following complaints made to police that between June 7, and 9, 2009, Corrin used his mobile phone to call and send abusive messages threatening physical harm to a former friend.
The court heard Corrin had made the threats due to an amount of money owed to him.
“I stayed with (the informant) after my marriage break up,” Corrin told the court.
“The property was raided by the police for marijuana. He told me he had been given a $2000 fine.”
Corrin said he felt he should help his friend out with the fine, and subsequently gave him some money, but after finding out there hadn’t been a fine, Corrin tried to retrieve his money but his friend had become defensive and shut off contact. This was when he became abusive.
Corrin was ordered to pay $500 recognisance.
