State Member for Inala Annastacia Palaszczuk at the site where 14 townhouses are being built.

DARRA will soon be home to 14 new townhouses as part of a new social housing development.

State Member for Inala, Annastacia Palaszczuk, said work had already started on the site, and she wanted to let the community know what was happening.

“People have been ringing the office wanting to know what was going on there,” she said.

“This new development will provide 20 local jobs.

“Four of the townhouses will have disability access, and the site is just 400 metres from the Darra Railway Station.”

Ms Palaszczuk said the new townhouses would be modern and contemporary in style, with residents not able to pick it as social housing.

“You won’t be able to tell the difference between a townhouse in Bulimba and one of these,” she said.

The project is being built at a cost of $3 million.
