MEMBER for Mt Ommaney, Julie Attwood, will be hosting a free information session about the suite of new sport and recreation funding programs.
Mrs Attwood said local sport and recreation organisations would benefit from the funding.
“Four new programs will fund sporting clubs and recreation organisations, councils and schools to help them increase participation, recruit volunteers, and encourage disadvantaged communities to participate in sport” she said.
Community groups will also be eligible for some funding programs.
The new-look programs were the result of a review carried out in late 2009 to ensure sport and recreation funding effectively met the needs of local Queensland communities.
People who attend the meeting can find out more on who can apply, how to apply, amount of funding, eligible project, application dates.
The meeting will be held at Jindalee Bowls Club (located on the corner of Sinnamon and Yallambee Roads, Jindalee) on Tuesday, March 16, from 6.30pm to 8.30pm.
Guidelines and application forms for the new programs are available at www.sportrec.qld.gov.au.
People wishing to attend the workshop must RSVP by Friday, 12 March on 3279 5137.
