WOMEN with young children now have no excuse not to throw on a uniform and play some sport.

Wanting to create an easy, cheap and fun way for mothers to keep fit, Oxley's Emma Falvey and Talina De Voigt have organised a new basketball program at the Inala PCYC.

Starting from July 23, the basketball program will be held on Thursdays at 9.30am and will include free babysitting.

Falvey, who has taken part in a similar women's basketball program in Ipswich, said she wanted to bring a program closer to home that allowed women to get out of the house and get active.

“I found it really good to play sport and have childminding,” she said.

Knowing that money is also an issue for many families, Falvey said the costs for their new program would only be PCYC membership and a minimal game fee.

All women have to do, if they want to be involved, is get about five of their friends together and show up on Thursday mornings.

It doesn't matter if you have never played basketball before because there will be a qualified coach to help with any general information on the game.

To register a team or for more information contact Talina De Voigt on 0403 652 266 or email talinadevoigt@yahoo.com.au.
