THIS year's Lowood Show will be a family event with enough horses, cows, flowers, photography and rides to keep mum, dad and the kids entertained all day.

The show, held today and tomorrow, will feature all the traditional events and exhibitions of an agricultural show.

The Lowood Show was marred by bad weather last year with show-goers braving damp conditions.

But this year's event looks set to attract more people with only afternoon showers predicted for today and a beautiful sunny day expected tomorrow.

Lowood Show Society secretary Margaret Wieland said the show's program was larger this year but it would be family-oriented as usual.

“Country people patronise our show really well and look forward to coming,” Mrs Wieland said.

Horse events start at 9am today and 8am tomorrow.

The grand cattle parade will take place at 2pm and will showcase the best cattle breeds.

Other features of this year's show include stud beef cattle, dairy goats, poultry, pigeons, cage birds, farm produce, fruit and vegetables, floral arrangements, clothing, photography and art.

The kids won't be bored as the sideshow alley will have a range of rides and shows for all ages.

There will also be a pet parade, wood chopping, guess the weight of the steer, hay stacking and pumpkin stacking.

The excitement of the track will be felt at Noah's Farm during the pig races and a fantastic fireworks display will help wind down patrons after 8pm tomorrow.

For the first time, monster trucks will roll into town for the Lowood Show, with the monstrosities doing a lap just before the fireworks tomorrow.
