Travelworld invests in city's heart

IN A show of support for the Ipswich Mall, established travel outfitter Travelworld has opened a new and improved shop.

To celebrate, the business will hold an international food fair today from 4pm.

“We have numerous wholesalers and airlines coming to support the opening,” development consultant Kellie Banditt said.

“It is more of a welcome - getting people to renew their memories of us.”

The business had previously been located in the older section of Ipswich City Square.

“When our lease ran out we saw the potential here,” Ms Banditt said.

Ipswich Mayor Paul Pisasale said council had fielded a lot of tenancy interest in the site since taking over ownership of the city centre in March.

“We have got to keep the momentum going,” Cr Pisasale said.

“There is always talk about the empty shops, but there are shops here that provide excellent service.

“The key to getting people to come to the mall is good service. People will travel for good service.”
