Wet weather set to continue

HEAVY rain and winds are expected to batter Northern NSW on Friday.

Large waves are also forecast to remain over northeast NSW for the next 24 to 48 hours before the system weakens and moves away during Saturday.

Flash flooding has occured in several parts of the Northern Rivers and the northern parts of the Mid North Coast.

As the system moves south, the Bureau of Meteorology expects conditions should begin to ease near the NSW/Queensland border.

Wind gusts exceeding 90km/hr are possible throughout the Northern Rivers, northern parts of the Mid North Coast, and the east of the Northern Tablelands.

A Flood Watch remains current for other coastal rivers from the Queensland border to Nambucca.

Heavy rain has eased about the Gold Coast.

Showers will persist in the area and there is a possibility of showers increasing to rain Thursday evening/Friday morning.

Flooding in coastal streams and rivers has occurred, and separate flood warnings
are current for these conditions.

The Bureau has issued flood warning for the following areas:

  • Flood Warning For Bellinger River
  • Flood Warning For Brunswick River
  • Flood Warning For Hastings River
  • Flood Watch Warning For New South Wales Area
  • Flood Warning For Orara River
  • Flood Warning For Richmond/wilson
  • Flood Warning For Tweed River
