Thieves bash 93-year-old man
A 93-YEAR-OLD man has sustained a laceration to his head requiring stitches following a violent armed robbery in Inala overnight.
Two men allegedly entered the Hickory St residence through a bathroom window about 9.30pm and threatened the man and his 91-year-old wife with a kitchen knife.
The couple were in bed when one of the offenders allegedly struck the man in the head and fled the scene with a small portable radio and a prepaid phone.
The woman was not physically injured during the incident, however the man spent the night at Princess Alexandra Hospital where he underwent treatment.
Police say both offenders were wearing dark clothing at the time of the offence and are described as being tall with solid builds.
The offender armed with the knife was wearing a balaclava.
Investigations are continuing.
