Questions asked about Gonski Report
THE urgent need for education funding reform was the hot topic at a forum held at Springfield Lakes this morning.
Parents and teachers from across south-west Brisbane expressed their concern with the Minister for School Education, Early Childhood and Youth Peter Garrett, during the forum at Springfield Lakes State School.
A group of more than 30 concerned citizens discussed the recommendations proposed by the Federal Government's Gonski report, which aims to grapple declining student performances at school and close the gap between high performing and disadvantaged students.
Mr Garrett said he would introduce a new piece of legislation in parliament this year to reflect a future funding model once a negotiated agreement with school systems and State Governments had been reached.
