Online ordering on the rise

ALMOST a third of Australian businesses reported receiving online orders totalling $189 billion in the 2010-11 financial year.

An Australian Bureau of Statistics report, released today, also found more than half of Australian businesses (51%) reported placing orders via the internet, a 9% increase from 2009-10.

The value of online orders to business has increased 32% from $143 billion in 2009-10 while the proportion of businesses received orders online has increased 13% to 28%.

Businesses reporting a web presence increased from 40% to 43% with nearly all large businesses online (97%).
