Man tortured partner, court hears

A BRISBANE man has been jailed for torturing his former partner - including burning her with a cigarette lighter - at their home in a four-day violence spree.

Alfie Robert Fisher, 20, had been smoking marijuana at their Brighton home, in Brisbane's east, when he became paranoid that his partner was having an affair with his brother.

Brisbane District Court heard on Tuesday how he had kicked, pushed and burned her.

Justice Katherine M McGinness jailed Fisher for three years for torture and attempting to pervert the course of justice when he tried to convince the woman to withdraw her complaint to police.

She noted he had already served 610 days in custody, which she did not declare as time served, before releasing him on immediate parole
