THE LNP has been accused of offering to pay for the printing of how to vote cards in return for preferences from Katter's Australian Party in the seat of Nicklin.

Matthew Smith, the Australian Party candidate, has signed a statutory declaration stating that the LNP's Nicklin branch manager, John Anderson, approached him with the request.

The LNP is trying to win the seat from independent Peter Wellington, who looks set to get the support of the Greens.

State Leader, Aidan McLindon, claimed the offer proved that Mr Newman's repeated statements ruling out a deal with the Australian Party had caused frustration within the LNP.

"The LNP now realise this is a two horse race with us. They are so scared that they are now attempting to pay for the production of how to vote cards to try and increase their support," said Mr McLindon.

"It is very concerning that in our democracy the LNP is so blatantly trying to buy votes and support."

"It is not ethical and we will not entering into such grubby politics."

"I can only suggest that LNP members contact Mr Newman and ask him to reconsider his just vote one strategy. After all, it was the LNP Leader himself who said he would rather see Labor returned than deal with Katter's Australian Party."

A LNP spokesperson told ABC radio that the printing cost offer had been misrepresented.

The spokesperson said a local volunteer had made the offer a day after the how to vote cards were finalised.
