AUSTRALIA'S Michael Diamond has equalled the world record and broken his own Olympic Record to lead the field heading into the final of the men's trap competition at the Royal Artillery Barracks.

Diamond shot a perfect score of 125 in the five rounds of qualifying to lead by one point.

Only two men in history have ever shot a perfect score before, and now Diamond joins them on that mark.

Diamond set the Olympic Record of 124 on his way to winning gold in Atlanta in 1996 and also claimed gold in Sydney.
