COOLABUNIA's Cordell Rogerson is on his way to becoming a true speedway star.
The 10-year-old raced for the under-16 125cc Speedway Solo title last Saturday at North Brisbane.
After a slight mishap in the first heat, Rogerson had a night of racing to remember.
The Taabinga State School student pushed his young racing skills to the limit on his way to two race wins and two other podium finishes.
These race results were enough to reach the "B" national final and brought him one step closer to achieving his goal of a top-five Queensland finish.
Rogerson led for most of the race but on the last corner was passed and in a runoff for the finish.
He just missed out on a place in the main final.
His second place in the B final placed him at fifth in the Queensland standings, as the young rider had achieved his goal of a top-five state-wide
Rogerson and his family will now travel to Mildura, Victoria, in December to compete for the U16 125cc Australian title.
The young speedway star's father, Simon, said his son had put in plenty of training to do his best in Victoria.
"He has been training hard to try and achieve his goal to advance through the qualifying rounds and make it to the main event," he said.
"His training consists of speedway training at least once a week at South Burnett Motorcycle Rider Training Facility, cross training on his motocross bike and physical training to build his fitness level."
The Australian Speedway championship will be held on December 28-30 at Olympic Park Speedway in Victoria.
