Changing the world one child at a time

IF you've ever wanted to do some volunteer work but couldn't seem to find the time, take some inspiration from Pat McKinney.

The Sinnamon Park grandfather is part of a volunteer organisation that has shown the true meaning of the word dedication.

Within Australia alone, the Kiwanis Club has logged more than 40,000 hours and raised more than $500,000 since the start of the year.

It's mission is to help young people throughout the world, with projects designed to build better futures for children and others within the community.

As a member of the Kiwanis Club Brisbane for the past five years, Mr McKinney said his group had been very active within the area.

The group recently donated $1000 worth of goods to aid Project: Love and Care, a program that helps young people who cannot live safely at home.

"We also had a main role in organising the last 24-hour MS Megaswim event in Jindalee," he said.
