Cancer survivor spreads hope
CANCER survivor Lesley King is determined to make a difference.
Holding her granddaughter Parker in her arms, she wished for a cure so she will never have to go through what her nan did 19 years ago.
When she was young, her father died from stomach cancer. Later in her life, she was diagnosed with breast cancer. Since then, she has been determined to make a difference.
In the past she has been part of breast cancer support services. She is currently serving as a member for the Cancer Council Gladstone branch.
Ms King is urging locals to gather in celebration of Daffodil Day and give hope to Queenslanders affected by cancer.
"Since I was first diagnosed, cancer is now detected earlier and there are better treatments," she said.
"Imagine what could happen in the next 20 years."
Ms King is calling on the Gladstone community to paint the town yellow. The Gladstone branch aims to raise $7000.
