Thieves snatch 83-year-old widow's wedding ring

Pensioner's wedding rings stolen
Pensioner's wedding rings stolen

THE wedding rings and precious jewellery of a recently widowed Forest Lake woman have been stolen from her home as she was recovering in hospital.

The family of the 83-year-old issued a plea after the theft between Friday evening and Saturday morning.

Soon to be discharged from hospital, the woman's daughters now face the awful job of having to tell her the devastating news that the treasured symbols of a blissful 60-year union with her husband (who passed away in May this year) are gone.

They fear the shock for her will be too much to bare.

The callous thieves stole a lifetime of jewellery including watches, antique brooches and other rings.

However, it is the wedding rings that the family is most keen to recover for their sentimental value and the link to the woman's recently deceased husband.

These rings all 18ct yellow gold, the engagement ring is distinctive with a centre diamond close to one carrot in size surrounded by 12 smaller diamonds set in a leaf pattern.

There are two eternity rings with five diamonds in each. Plus, a plain yellow gold male wedding band with a beveled edge.

Anyone who sees these rings, or has information to help find them and reunite them with their widowed, pensioner owner, please contact:
