BELLINGEN nodded off briefly yesterday as a dedicated group of people bedded down in the town’s library for Australia’s first Nap-in.

Called up by local health promoter Thea O’Connor, about 35 people gathered with pillows and blankets to renew their own energy.

Once settled, nappers were instructed they were in a text and mobile free zone but one which welcomed snoring.

‘Nap guardian’ David Pepper was on duty to ensure the space remained safe and secure for the 15 minutes.

Ms O’Connor said she was encouraging businesses to allow staff energy breaks during the afternoon slump.

“It’s been shown to improve productivity,” she said.
