Bayern continue domination of Real
ONE of European football oldest rivalries ignited again yesterday as Bayern Munich continued its domination of Real Madrid.
The German side is now 10 games undefeated at home against the Spanish giants and kept the record alive in this semi-final clash thanks to a late strike from scoring sensation Mario Gomez.
Gomez's goal gave Bayern and former Madrid coach Jupp Heyckes a 2-1 advantage going into the second leg at the Bernabeu.
Mesut Ozil's second-half equaliser had cancelled out Franck Ribery's early goal and it appeared the home team would have to settle for the draw before Gomez snatched his 12th Champions League goal and 40th of a prolific season.
World Cup final referee Howard Webb had a torrid time, dealing with temper tantrums, high tackles, flare-ups and penalty claims and in the process handed out nine yellow cards.
